Charity Support

In October 2022, I was part of a team from St. James's Place who trekked to Everest Base Camp in Nepal to support two incredible charities. While the trek itself was an unforgettable experience—spanning 80 challenging miles and reaching an altitude of 17,500 ft—our fundraising efforts didn’t stop there.

This support continues into 2025, with various initiatives still underway to benefit Saving Nepal’s Children (SNC). Through the generosity of the St. James's Place Charity Foundation, all donations are being matched for a UK-based equivalent charity, OnSide.

So far, I’ve raised £7,065, with additional funds expected to come in this year. It’s heartwarming to see how these efforts continue to make a difference, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together in 2025.

About the Charities:

SNC

SNC aim to fund a Vocational School, allowing Nepal’s children a chance to learn trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, tailoring and electrical engineering. Once constructed, this school can accept commercial projects to partly self-fund and offer support for decades to come. These young people can then remain in Nepal, applying their trades and improve prospects for them, their families, and future generations. Existing Vocational Schools have an 82% employment rate within three months of completed training.

Onside

Onside provide safe youth zones for young people aged 8-19 (25 for those with a disability) from deprived areas. This gives them an alternative to spending time on the street and addresses youth unemployment, with opportunities to learn new skills. SJPF have helped partially fund two of these centres so far with great success, based in Wirral and Wolverhampton, with two more being supported in Warrington & Hammersmith. Once complete, the centres become independent charities, giving them the opportunity to engage with the local people that they support, including local business and individuals who care about the wellbeing and prospects of their community.
